Genealogy Research @ the Topsfield Town Library:
The Topsfield Town Library now offers several tools and sources of information that will help you be successful

The Town's cemetery plot project allows researcher to discover where ancestors are buried and how to
locate the three town cemeteries in Topsfield. Researching can be done on a designated computer in the library
or by looking through corresponding binders located in the Library's Topsfield Room.

The Topsfield Town
Library and EBSCO Publishing of Ipswich,
Massachusetts have joined forces to promote environmental awareness. EBSCO Publishing has been a partner with
regional libraries for many years providing valued databases for patron
use. In addition, the Topsfield Town
Library
works with EBSCO to support the Library’s periodical collection and,
recently,
has received additional complimentary databases for patron use. Now, we are working together to empower
citizens with knowledge and know-how in making simple lifestyle changes
that
can make a difference in our environment.
Starting Monday, June 2,
2008 and through the month of June,
the Library will have on display material that contains a variety of
information on ”Going Green”. Displays
located throughout the Library will have items for patrons to checkout. We encourage patrons to visit the Adult and
YA non-fiction collection located on the second floor and receive a
free
reusable shopping bag compliments of EBSCO Publishing Company. To receive your bag, please check in at the
Reference Desk on the second floor.
Staff will be giving one bag per household to Topsfield
residents during
the month of June.
The
Library is thrilled to have this opportunity made
available to us by the EBSCO Publishing Company to promote the
Library’s “Go
Green” efforts. Not only is the Library
developing a collection that will be a valued resource for the
community, but
also we are making internal changes. A
mini recycling center has been setup in the Library’s basement for
paper, cardboard,
glass and plastic. In addition, the
Library uses recycled bathroom paper products and environmentally
friendly
cleaning products. Changing technology
components to more efficient monitors and discovering how to program
our
technology to shutdown at night after vital upgrades and virus scanning
are
complete is working well. The Library
promotes water conservation with our own rain-barrel for watering
outside
plantings. Information on purchasing
rain-barrels is available in the Library.
The entire staff encourages patrons to visit the Library’s displays and learn more about what you can do to make easy changes at home. Come by the Library starting Monday, June 2nd for a free reusable shopping bag compliments of EBSCO Publishing Company.
