She also has been active in local artist guilds and painting groups. Her first painting medium was acrylic, later switching to oil about seven years ago. Linda uses photographs that she has taken and interprets them to make paintings of these subjects. Subjects have ranged from portraits, to animals, to landscapes.
Greg Balek is a graduate of Masco High School. Currently he is a computer engineering student at Northeastern University. You can usually find a pencil or brush in his hands during his down time. Starting with pencil, he later found gouache to be his medium of choice. Subjects have ranged from imaginative to realistic. He also has shown and won a number of awards for his art at various venues. His paintings can be found on his website, gregbalek.com. He also displays his art on deviantART.
Dana Balek is a student at Masco High School. She started in clay before concentrating on drawing. Her clay sculptures often sell out at local fairs. She will work for days to perfect a technique to represent an object. Her sense of design is demonstrated in her drawings with the use of line, shape, and color. Many of her drawings are done from the images she creates in her mind. Using unforgiving ink with the assurance of a competent artist, Dana has been able to achieve beautifully designed images of scenes and people. She also has used her talents to create earrings which can be seen on her website, danabalek.com.
This show at the Topsfield Town Library shows the unique styles and directions of artists from the same family. Each artist explores the subjects in different manners, by the use of technique and medium. The show runs to the end of December.
